Hi all

Just got a iCN520, I have been having a play and on the whole I am very happy with this unit, their is one thing I have not been able to do that I thought these units could do and that is during a journey I thought I could get it to pick an alternative rout, which would be useful if the road ahead became congested.

Can it be done or have I got it wrong.

Make sure that Back-On-Track is selected in the settings, then the unit will automatically calculate another route when you deviate from the original route. For example if you come to roadworks, turn off and it will help you to get back via another way.

I am afraid that you are right, in that there isn't a function to do this apart from the automatic back-on-track facility which Paulius mentions.

There is the facility to insert an 'avoid' area though this is fiddly to do whilst driving (and probably dangerous, illegal etc.). I have found that using an 'avoid' area often brings you back to the traffic jam or road works sonner than you would like anyway - unless you put several in to cover the beginning, middle and end of the congestion.

I'd stick to the back-on-track facility which works brilliantly most of the time.
