Roger,

It sounds interesting but could you give us a simple run down on what it all means please?

havent seen that but it would invalidate your warranty if it broke youve no where to get it repaired and things arent cheep i would not recomend doing anything like this as devices like the navman icn tomtom go etc are only designed to run the software it came with

DO NOT TRY THIS

The iCN510 is just a rebranded Mio 136 Pocket Pc with the Navman software installed and locked. The extra functions are core to the unit and could have been provided to us if Navman chose to do so. In addition, other units from Mio and Median are being "unlocked" by their owners daily with no issues. Maybe Alex776 works for Navman-I'm sure they aren't going to like this!! The 510 running TomTom nav. 5 is what this unit should have been in the first place.

They shouldn't be any different as both units use the same Win CE NET 4.2 core.

Just tried this and it works well, Navman software is unaffected, and you get a useful calculator, mp3 player, picture viewer etc.

Can someone spell the instructions out for me in a language similar to that used for the speed camera instructions as I would love to be able to have this option.
I didn't follow the Dutch guys explanation a bit.
I'm using a 256MB card, will that take the extra software?

I've had it confirmed by someone from Navman that unlocking the Navman device will invalidate their warranty, so be careful out there.

sorry but ive no connection to navman at all was trying to point out that by unlocking the icn and if was meesed up by the person doing it they would have no way of getting the unit repaired if the unit bricked as sometimes can happen with pdas it would be unusable

i appreciate that many owners do unlock there devices with out problems

if you want to easliy change software then i would advise any one to go for a pocket pc system the pna devices are locked for a reason

If that's the case Tim, can't wait until it's a year old.
