I've sat watching the little graphics - a bit of paper flying between two folders - for well over an hour & a half now in my attemp to upgrade to TTN5.1 on my Mitac.

Any idea how long this process takes? There is no sign of any HD activity, nor in ActiveSync though the Mitac is correctly connected. Should I disable the XP firewall whilst doing this....or just be VERY patient.

Thanks.

As Simon pointed out, it should just install like any other app via ActiveSync and take just a few minuets, you should not need to re-install the maps or anything else.

Thanks everyone.

I turned off the XP Firewall, Mcafee, Ad-Aware, MS Antispy...in fact just about everything, and tried again using the ZIP file.

The TT5.1 upgrade installed almost immediately via ActiveSync and TomTom now reports that I've got v5.1.

Now it reamains to be seen if I notice any improvements!!

You are lucky, have turned everything off and still nothing but showing the copy of files. Yet more quality programming from Tom Tom !! You can't even cancel it without rebooting the PC.

Have left it for ages again but still nothing

Did not work for me!
I also got the endless file transfer icons when trying to update from the exe file.
I then tried the zip file method but was asked for a password during setup. What password is this? Any suggestions appreciated!
Thanks
Dave

I downloaded this for my friend & he tried the zip file & he said everything went through OK but TT5 is still reporting v5.0. I tried it on mine & it worked fine.

Any ideas??

I got the same upgrade problem for TTN v5.1 of the never ending flying sheets. I disabled Windows Firewall, stopped Norton Anti Virus auto-protect, closed all other apps. Used the ZIP version to do the upgrade. Removed/replaced the ipaq in its cradle a couple of times to get the activesync connection to work and the upgrade worked at last. TTN now says its V5.100 (5160). Hope this fixes the freeze problem on the hx4700. Laughing

the upgrade worked fine for me though I had to do a soft reset of the PPC due to files being in use. Was very quick and says 5.1 - will see if Checkpoint works now instead of hanging.

This happens all the time when installing Tomtom. What I do is start the install, when it shows the files moving accross (Nothing is Happening) undock your PDA and Active sync will ask do you want to sync and install on next sync, say yes, redock you pda and it will work first time automaticaly.

Cheers
