SmartST 3 + Rikaline 6010 ??

Hi,

I will be travelling in Austrailia and New Zealand later this year and would like to take a navigator with me. TomTom that I use in the UK is out as they do not have maps so I am looking at SmartST.

I am running an Ipaq 2210 with Rikaline 6010 GPS receiver. I emailed NavMan and they have told me that their products will not work with my hardware! This seems very strange to me, do they mean it is 'not supported' rather than 'won't work'?

I don't want to spend £300 on maps for something that won't work, but I equally don't want to waste money on new hardware I don't need.

Can anyone with experience of SmartST with non-navman wire GPS units and/or a 2210 let me know their thoughs please. Is there a way to download an evaluation to test first?

Also I am struggling to find a source for the Oz+NZ maps that has them is stock - any suggestions welcomed.

One more question:

The European NavMan online store only appears to sell software for NavMan devices. Given that the PIN is just a PocketPC can this software be installed on any pocket PC or is it hardware locked to the PIN in some way?
