Having problems trying to install Tomtom mobile 5 on a
Nokia (os=symbian ver 7.05 platform series 80okia 9300 )

Getting error message

note:
system: unable to find the specifed object

This also applys to the programs supplied by Nokia on the Memory card
(golf, Adrobe reader etc)

The Tomtom icon shows up in the menu.

I formated the card from within the phone, not the p.c

I just upgraded the phone from a Nokia 6600 running Tomtom

Any help would be appreciated

Silly question first, You have purchased and installed the Symbian S80 version of TomTom on ya 9300? S60 software doesn't run on the S80,

I have a Nokia 9500 running TTM5,

Getting it working wasnt as easy as I would have hoped, had to format the phone,

I would suggest you backup all the information you want to keep, (Calendar and messages would be the only real bit to save, but worth saving it all, the backup will put all the files on the MMC,

If you do 2 backups, one of just Cal and Msgs and a full backup, put the MMC in the PC and use Winzip or Winrar to create a zip file of the backups (Saves the complete folder structure this way),

Reboot the phone, Press Shift, Chr, Ctrl and F before the hands appear and format the phone,

Hope this helps,

Carl,

I got my TomTom Mobile 5 for my Nokia 9300 yesterday.

Iserted the MMC-card, rebooted the phone and everything works great.

The TomTom software do the BT connection itself automaticly.

Up and running in 5 mins.

I am in fact impressed how easy it was, and the navigation is working great.

I think it also depends what you have / had on your phone,

A brand new phone with the TTM5 I would excpect to work without any hitches,

A phone over 6 months old with lots of software on it might have 1 or 2 more problems,

Carl,

I tried the ctrl, shift, etc and nothing appeared to happen except that the hands took longer to show themselves.
Apart from the TOMTOM not working, it appears that NO application works. I had a golf app with the phone and this also does not work.

I checked the OS and it is:
V 04.53 (00)
22.12.2004
RAE-6
(c) Nokia

I have tried a format of the MMC and copied all files back and also making sure that nothing is read only.
I tried another MMC card with a working TOMTOM on a 6600 (working) and this does not work on the 9300 either.

I am wondering if series 80 requires another version of TOMTOM Mobile5.
Is there a way of knowing which version of TOMTOM I have from the TOMTOM files?

Even if the 9300 does require another later version of TOMTOM MObile to work - I still have the general problem that NO apps seem to work and still have the msg: system: unable to find the specifed object

Thanks for your help guys.

Yes, as I previously stated, the Series 80 version is different, just sticking in the MMC in from a Series 60 phone wouldn't work,

The series 80 version was only released in June,

Sorry, format is Ctrl, Shift and F, added the Chr by mistake,

Ok, I have TTM5 running on my Nokia 9500,

First thing then as you have formated the phone,

Are you using the orignal card as supplied by TomTom?

Did you back it up on to your own card?

How did you back up the card?

Carl,

It sounds like you're tryying to use the S60 version on an S80 phone,

These 2 are NOT compatable,

If you want to use TomTom on the 9500, you will need to buy a new version from TomTom,

Sorry,

Carl,

Hi there,

I have TTM5 working on my 9300i.

However when I receive a phone call, the directions get muted (all okay so far) but then the call does not come through. In the end, TT will shut down and restart itself.

Any suggestions anybody?
