Thanks for all the posts definately answered my question :D I dont fancy taking stuff apart, I aint too good with a soldering iron I did however manage to find the cradle for sale so I've ordered one http://www.globalpositioningsystems.co.uk/viewprod.php?product_id=3555&tab=description Not bad for £10

Very informative, thanks for the detailed guide.

The cradle has four contacts, the middle two of which are unused, I wonder if this was for some future feature that never made it off the drawing board?
