Hi,
i used usa 2004 maps on TTN5 by changing to 562 the last line of .pna file. With TTN5.10 (post upgrade) this trick doesn't work anymore...
I tried using a .mid file of 5.62 maps...nothing.

Anyone with ideas?

A.

Just amazed that any company can show such complete contempt for its customers in the way TomTom has by releasing a shody product and then deliberately breaking it like this. Puts me in mind of British Leyland at the time it offered the Maestro with a square steering wheel Exclamation

breaking it?
It was never intended/allowed that the USA 2004 maps could be used with TTN5.

They just fixed a security leak where you could use old maps by changing something in their data. It's not strange they are fixing that?

Maestro? My dad had a brand new MKI Allegro with square wheel and completly non-functional electrics. The Maestro was ten years later and as the Allegro had abandoned the square wheel long before then I can't believe Maestros had them.

Hi,
I'm from Belgium but I'm studying in the state. I use my tomtom everywhere but now, I'm stuck with the version 2004 for the USA and the ttn5.1 in Europe. When I upgraded my tomtom europe to version 5.1, I was able to use my map from my american version 2004 anymore. But as mention above, I had to come back to 2004 for the USA after upgrading to TTN5.1 in Belgium... I was hoping that TTN5.x will facilitate the travel all around the world but it doesn't!
Nobody has a solution to run the 2004 maps in TTN 5.1 yet?
Thanks,

Alexandre

Has the version number for 5.1 changed from 562? Check out the Version on the About TomTom Screen in the App to check and change as necessary? Might work? Confused

that "trick"was fixed in 5.10, that's why it is not working anymore in 5.10 in the first place...

Can some one please explain something to me?

On TomTom's USA Upgrade website (http://www.tomtom.com/shop/upgrade.us.php) there is the following statement:

"Do I have to upgrade my maps?
No, you can just upgrade the NAVIGATOR 5 application and still use your existing TomTom Navigator 2004 maps. Maps included with TomTom Navigator USA v.2 for Pocket PC will not function with TomTom Navigator 5.
"

So the upgrade website says that you can simply upgrade the software and continue to use your TomTom Navigator 2004 maps.... however this thread indicates that, in fact, you can NOT use older maps with Navigator 5. Turrg has even stated in this thread that this was a security hole that TomTom fixed in the 5.01 patch. So if this is a security hole, why would TomTom say on their upgrade website that we can use our 2004 maps?

Am I missing something here? I'm really quite confused as to whether or not TomTom 5 will allow us to use our 2004 maps.

Thanks.

I also saw this message. But I have also gotten replies back stating the upgrade will come with the new USA/Canada maps. I have ordered my free upgrade and it has shipped with an expected arrival of next Tuesday. I will keep you posted as to what I get in the upgrade package.

The only thing consistent with TomTom customer support is their inconsistency.

doctomahawk, when did you order your Tomtom 5 cds to be already on its way? I have tried to order it yesterday, but the website didn't let me finish the order. Anyway, it went ok today but I when I go in "my tomtom", I can not see "orders" like they say in the confirmation email?
I got it free of charge but does it come with the Maps? When I placed my order, it said USA and Canada Software upgrade....
Let me know when you get your cds...

I ordered it on 7/27. Like you I could not find the order on My TomTom but if you go back though the process again and submit your product code again you should get the message "The Product Code you have entered has already been used for an Upgrade". I recieved a confirmation email of the order the next day then a shippment confirmation the day after that.

Like you I am clueless to the contents of this upgrade and am interested in finding out if maps are included. Obviously there has to be new maps if the ability to use the 2004 maps with the 5.1 update is no longer possible. Of course there could be an yet unknown modification to the .pna file that would make these 2004 maps usable with the update?

Stay tuned for more.
