If its the same as my gpsmap 60c it means the data is being corrected by WAAS in the US or The European Geostationary Navigation Overlay Service in Europe

Don't know your specific Garmin model, but this usually indicates that the unit has a Differential GPS fix rather than a standard GPS fix. This should typically improve its positional accuracy a bit. _________________ Barry Davies

If it says 3d Diff and you have a D in the bars then you most definately have WAAS (aka EGNOS) enabled.
You should see a sat with a number 33, 39 or 44 which is the WAAS one. _________________ Gone fishing! |

I've never seen any sats above 29 on my GPS V. _________________ Tim |

I know nothing about the GPS V but if it has a" battery save mode"and it is in that mode it won't receive waas!

Ah, thanks for that; I'll have a look.
Bingo, thanks for the info.. 3D Differential fix attained; seven sats with a D at the borrom of each and a claimed accuracy of 6' - nice. :D _________________ Tim

Not especially well in my experience.
I was in New York the other day and the Quest locked on with a 3D-Differential lock in about 60 seconds from cold and I didn't even have an especially good view of the sky.
It always seems to take about 5 minutes to get a 3D-Diff lock here in the UK and that's when I am standing on top of a hill!
Anyone else tried it? _________________ Gone fishing! |
