Changing Compass Colours

Has anyone managed to change the colour of the compass in TT5?

I have my own colour scheme installed - constructed with the help
of the Colour Style Editor program but the .clr I changed (a TT3 file)
does not have an entry for the compass arrow or background and so the TT5 default colours are used.

I find the contrast between the blue compass arrow and the dark
blue compass background insufficient, especially when the PDA is
mounted in my car to the side of he driving position i.e. the viewing angle is not a perfect 90 degrees to screen plane.

Why did they replace the compass they used in TT3 which was
much better in many more viewing conditions?
