Hi all,

I hope someone can help me. I have three XDA 1 units and one XDA 2. I recently bought a Haicom 203 mouse and connecting car cable for one of my XDAs. It works a treat with TomTom on any of the units.

I ordered another two kits, from the same supplier, for the other XDA 1 units. When they came they didn't seem to work with any of my devices. I went through a detailed test regime and found that if I used my original connecting cable with any of the GPS mice on any of the XDAs it'd work; however the connecting cables I'd been supplied didn't.

I took the testing a little further by plugging in my original set-up to any XDA and then once TomTom was launched and working I'd quickly swap the connecting power lead for a non-working one. It'd carry on working so it seemed like the problem was that the port on the XDAs wasn't opening when initally connected to GPS mouse but when the port had already been opened it could function.

Of course this isn't practical so I returned the faulty cables to the supplier and he sent me two more - they had the same issue. I've since tried my XDAs on other people GPS units and they all work ok - the issue only seems to be with the later supplied connecting leads. The supplier insists that all the cables I've returned to him work ok on his XDA2.

I'm at a loss as to what to do cos it ain't his fault if the leads test ok for him and it ain't my fault if they don't work for me. The only difference I can see from the original lead I have that works, and the newer ones is the size of the plug (not the connecting part but the housing) is larger on the newer ones. The supplier states that the cables all came from Haicom and no other customer has issues and he sells 5 a day.

I fail to see what I can be doing wrong when I have 4 devices that work other than with these bizarre connecting leads - can anyone please help?

Thanks in advance - this is driving me up the wall (and without guidance!)

I'm a little disappointed in this site and all the experts here that no one was able to assist me with my problem.

I have, however, solved the issue and have therefore decided to post what the solution is in case some other poor soul has the same issue as me.

Go into Settings > Connections > Beam
Untick the "Receive all incoming beams" box it's using the serial interface so doesn't allow some GPS modules to initalise their connection.

All sorted now!
