unknown device processor type 2577 or OS(3420)

Hi,
Hope someone will help here.
I recently bought a kane Car Pilot for my IPAQ 3970. It works fine with the loaded kane software. But I am unable to upgrade to Kane 3D.
My pc has ActiveSync 3.5 installed.
While trying to upgrade,I get error message "Kane car Pilot 3D upgrade doesnot support the connected device type.
When I run the DestinatorManager, it gives error message "unknown device processor type 2577 or OS(3420) "
