Just Recieved my Tom Tom Go 300 Today Plz Help

Hi all,
I recieved my tom tom go 300 today. Im new to GPS systems and upton recieving it I simply plugged it in an drove around getting the hang of it.

The software version that came with this was 5.200 and ive just backed it up and installed 5.201 im wondering if this is all I need to do in order to keep it up to date with UK maps and cameras?

I noticed also that when I go through a speed camera I dont get a voice to say one is approaching or when im on top of the camera all I get is the camera sign on the screen whenever im approaching the camera. I would like to get some sort of voice recognition to say a camera is near and was wondering how I go about this?

Im setting off on a trip from the southcoast, around the north east, along the west coast and back home to the south coast in the next 3 days and would appreciate any advice on what to do when using this device to help me get around as my map reading is hopeless hence the reason ive never done this trip until now.

Have you seen the PGPSW guide to installing our free camera database onto a TomTom GO?

The above guide has links to other articles written by PGPSW staff and moderators that describe the camera database and also how to use custom voice files for camera alerts.

Although the guides are easy to understand, be sure to read them thoroughly and follow the steps explicitly.

To get an audible speed camera warning use the following steps:
1) On main menu screen select 'Change Preferences'
2) On next menu select 'Manage POI'
3) Then select 'Warn when near POI'
4) Then scroll down through the POIs until you reach the first speed camera category.
5) Tap on the category. Select the distance at which you want the warning (500yds gives you 15 seconds warning at 70mph).Tap done. Select the warning sound. Tick 'Warn only if POI is on route'. Tap done.
6) Start again from 'warn when near POI' until you have applied a warning to all speed camera categories.
