I'm in the process of setting up CheckPOInt for use with TomTom Nav 5.1. One the checkpoint website it talks about using POIplace to obtain and synchronise overlays, as these just POIs? And do I have to do this or can I just use the POIs I have already.
Secondly, if I use POIplace does this have the same safety camera database as Pocket GPS World, if not which one to use?
TIA

Hi gpsdell,
Yes, overlay is another term for POIs.

You do not need to sync to POIplace unless you require some new groups of poi's, you should also be able to use the POI's you already have so long as they are in the .ov2 format.
I personally use the Safety Camera base from this web site, with over 6,500 entires and updated every month. |

Thanks for that. Right now I've got both. I found the POIplace imported POIs to be easier to configure in Checkpoint since you can change settings at the top level and it affects the sub items, but with the non synchronised ones you need to do each one individually. I've also now got TT to alert me about the POIplace POIs too because I found that there were some cameras not in the Pocket GPS DB. I should work out now how to send in updates |
