I mentioned a few days ago, that over the coming days we would have something to appeal to everyone and we sure do!   Mike has just completed his very thorough review of Anquet Mapping Software using Ordnance Survey Maps and Harvey Maps.

The Arquet review is now somewhat out of date.

These maps now have pocket PC compatibility and the new software allows you to export maps and routes to your Pocket PC. You will now be able to connect your GPS to your Pocket PC and see real time changing displays showing your current position on the OS mapping.

Supports all Pocket PCs running a version Microsoft Pocket PC as their operating system.
Pocket PC displays seamless zoomable maps :-
Download your chosen map areas
Download Routes and Route texts to combine with maps on the Pocket PC
Download the Gazetteer of over 250,000 places
Show your position with “LiveTrack” using any GPS unit (NMEA ompatible)
Input map coordinates and go to selected location
Display map coordinates at any location by touching the screen

There are now eight new Ordnance Survey 1:25,000 Explorer maps which can be fully integrated with the existing Anquet range.

These cover the following areas:
Dartmoor and Exmoor
The Cotswolds
The Peak District
The Yorkshire Dales
The Lake District
Snowdonia
Loch Lomond and the Trossachs
Ben Nevis and Glencoe

Each priced at £80 inc postage

Further areas are expected to be published later in 2004 and it is expected that all the popular walking areas of Great Britain will be covered by the end of the year.

The 1:50,000 landranger maps cover the following areas:
Lake District and Northumberland.

The Peak District, The Yorkshire Dales and The North York Moors.

The Cairngorms, Ben Nevis, Glen Coe, Loch Lomond, Argyll Forest Park, Isle of Arran and Isle of Skye.

Exmoor, Dartmoor, New Forest and the South Downs.

Snowdonia, Pembrokeshire Coast, Brecon Beacons and Forest of Dean.

Each priced at £35 inc postage.

Anquet have just sent a copy of their Lake District maps at 1:25,000 to us so we will be reviewing it soon.

The good news is that it is supposed to be backwards compatible with the current 1:50,000 maps, but I will be checking that as part of my review.

Even better is that we now have 3 competing companies providing OS mapping on PocketPC platforms, which can only be good for the users.

Hi - isn't it time this review was pulled, marked as archive or somehow updated?

Anquet talks to PDAs very nicely indeed
- has USB compatibility
- has 1:25000 scale OS maps

It's great to visit the site - it certainly helps me to purchase the stuff I want - but this review is now positively misleading
