question re Tomtom3 road speeds for London traffic

I have Tomtom 3 andI have just started van driving in London with about 25 drops per day from 6am to 3pm, I need to set it so that I can take advantage of shortcuts (minor roads) to avoid heavy traffic from 7.30am onwards.

Does anyone have suggestions for preferred speeds in the advanced tab of the navigation properties, below are the ones I have set:

Motorway 60mph
International 40mph
Major road 30mph
Secondary road 30mph
Connecting road 30mph
Important local road 30mph
Local road 35mph
Destination road 10mph

I set the local roads with a higher mph thinking this would help me with short cuts, if anyone could advise me of a better way please let me know, a description of the road descriptions above would be helpful.

these were my settings
although it still refused to take the correct route (which tt5 now uses)
the only way i could make it work was to set local roads to 150 mph
