Hi,
I bought the MDPNA 200S 4.75 at Aldi in Spain. Unfortunately the map of Spain is unprecise and fundamentally unreliable.
Did any of you install succesfully other maps such as tomtom or other?
If you did could you tell me technically how you did it?
Thanks a lot for your help.

Hi there,

Not sure if this is too late, but I've got the 4.2 version on 4 discs that I bought from Ebay as a supplement to the 4.75 version running on my MD95900 (bought from Aldi here in the UK - I think it is the same as yours). Anyway, the CD's came with most western Europe country maps on them, including Spain and I'm certainly no IT expert, but I managed to load them onto my MMC card and they work well (I'm an aircraft engineer and have to travel to many different countries, including Spain). If you want to purchase copies of them, let me know, as it is FAR cheaper than going to Medion and getting the maps from them.

Regards,

Tony

Hi,

The only retailer that sells the GPS maps for a 95900 to the best of my knowledge is medionshop.co.uk. Could very well be wrong though. Perhaps Navigon GPS maps work with this particular GPS?.

Best Regards.

Yes, Medion shop do sell them and very expensive they are too! That's why I bought the 4.2 version for my 95900, as they were much cheaper.

When I approached Navigon, they were very reluctant to discuss any other form of supply outside of Medion (go to your unit manufacturer...they 'doctor' the maps so they can be used in the 95900 units; without the add-on of software, they wouldn't work) and would not even hint if there were any other maps available for the 95900. Navigon buy the maps from Navteq anyway, so are basically the middleman. I haven't asked Navteq whether they supply maps for the Medio 95900, but suspect the answer will be the same as Navigon.

Thanks chaps, I would be better to explain myself, I have Medion v4.2 on a Medion MD95000, hence the Mio168 tag I used, I then updated via Navigons web site to Navigon v5, then v5.1 with the update they released, but it is very slow to update the map when navigating, sometimes 4-5 seconds behind, Medion Navigator v4.2 is much better than that so I was hoping that I could get the Medion v4.75 UK map and use it with the v4.2 software so that the map was more up to date.

Hi Navigotmee,

Interesting read imho. I've e-mailed Navigon and unfortunately received no response from them, if the GPS software is available cheaper elsewhere i'd prefer to buy from another source other than medionshop.co.uk particulary as i'm most dissatisfied with their lack of technical assistance or after-sales customer service by e-mail. Why they mention a hotline e-mail address on their product literature is beyond me because they do not seem to offer technical support by e-mail, on each and every occasion that i've contacted them by e-mail they've sent a standard template response asking to ring them on their 0870 national-rate number.

Do you have any contact details for Navteq at all please?.

Thank you.
Best Regards.

Hi Twinfanmann,

Thank you for your reply. I e-mailed navteq last night and in fairness to them they've responded within 24-hours of receipt (Navman haven't responded to e-mail correspondence asking about where to buy GPS Maps at all after 1-week since initially contacting them).

NAVTEQ is the database supplier for your handheld device. At this moment,
however, we do not handle the distribution of maps for these devices. For
information on how to order additional maps, we advise you to contact your
Medion or Navigon dealer or to consult the Medion or the Navigon website at
http://www.medion.com/ or http://www.navigon.com/.

Any idea's where else GPS Maps can be sourced for a Medion PNA GPS?.

Thank you.
Best Regards.

*Ignore this particular response please. Was Navigon that aren't responding to e-mails and not Navman. Apologies for the error. Would edit my reply but this facility doesn't appear to be an option on the forum*

Sorry, not a clue! I'm afraid I'm at the limit of my knowlegde regarding the map procurement, but I'd be interested in knowing what you find out though.
