sd card format

just brought a new sd card card (512) for tom tom go 300 put it in tom tom and downloaded all the files but now when you turn it on with the new card in it just shows the sd card with a red cross over it should I have formatted it first the only thing is windows can`t formatt it now. comes up with error message 3 mins after it starts formatting

I had formatting problems. I reformatted in my wife's Palm Tungsten.

Do you have a handheld? Or a digital camera? Anything that takes an SD card?

As to the red cross, did you wait till everything had copied? Did you disconnect the GO using "safely remove......"?

Were you copying the whole of the GO files or did you use the TomTom CD "backup" which only copies the settings?
