Hi
I am thinking of getting the 500 or 700. two questions if anyone can help.

1 i want to use the system at work. i am a traffic officer and wonder if i will be able to hear directions travelling at fast speeds with sirens blearing out. Is the volume level quite good?

as they are bluetooth enabled, could i not pair my bluetooth headset to it and listen to directions through that? :D

2 All the screen shots of the 700 show the system telling you the name of the street you are about to turn onto. is it possible to have the name of the street you are on at the time displayed.

thanks for any advice

Are you allowed to fit your own kit to a police car? I would have thought that this would not be allowed!! I can however see that GPS sat nav would be extremely useful to emergency services in finding addresses- you will need to ask your control room for the postcode as it will take too long to mess about with planning route from address only.

Last Sunday I was travelling through Northamptonshire and I pulled up at a set of lights next to a patrol car. Looking across I noticed a TTG on the dash. Whether this was a personal one or "issued" I couldn't say.

Surrey have equipped all their Area and Beat cars with GO's. I would think the volume may be an issue with the sirens on though. Depends how loud they are in the vehicle.

What force are you with? If close to me we could always test mine.

Couldn't they just put ther sirens through the docking connector, so they mute when Jane speaks? Laughing

Or put the voice through the sirens - then not only would they hear them, but so would everyone else so they'd know to get out of the way!

And use the Yoda voice when chasing some scrotes:- "At the roundabout, caught you will be". Laughing
