as soon as i got my ttg i rush on the pc and tried loading everything possible onto it and as a result it crashed and i had to reset it back to factory setting.
i have searched the forums and cant seem to find anywhere that confirms what you can and cant successfully load onto the standard 128mb card, so heres what i have managed to do and it all works great:

uk speed camera database (standard alerts only, not speeded alerts)
2 special direction voices
updated alert tones

firstly i had to free up some space so i chose which voices i prefered best:
jane (uk)
special 32 (yoda) (http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=22793 )
special 37 (silent with onscreen directions) (http://www.rayflanagan.co.uk)

then i deleted the other preloaded voices via the tomtom cd.

next i loaded the standard .ovc and .bmp files which you get from here:
the file you need is 'ov2 bmp files ', copy these direct to the gb map folder.
these will alert for all the different types of cameras around the uk. the other ov2/bmp files have seperate alerts for different cameras at differnet speed, but after loading a few of these there isnt much room left on the card and its liable to crash on a long journey.

then i enabled the poi's for the different alerts and selected the required alert noise. the standard alerts are a bit boring so i added the updated versions availiable here:
http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/tomtom-go-poi-alerts.php

now one thing i did find out was that loading the speed camera database and voices could only be done via a sd card reader, for some reason the tomtom kept crashing when i tried to load it up direct.
as for the updated alert sound that must be loaded up direct to the tomtom as it changes the data.chk file and i think some of the data must be stored on the tomtom internal memory. so load it direct to the tomtom via your pc.

obviously to get the full potential of you features availiable its best to get a 256mb sd card there only £15, or even a 512mb card if your going to be traveling a bit abroad.

hope this help

(the above instructions worked fine for me but if anyone has anymore to add then please add a comment below. i'm no expert on the tomtoms but after 3 days i've managed to get mine working great)
cheers

hope this help

If you plug your ttg into your computer and go to >start > my computer > removable storage device> properties, it will tell You the amount of used/free space on the card

thats true but filling the card up till its nearly full doesnt work as the tomtom uses some of the memory to calculate and store the routes. also i noticed that the card only shows up as 119mb on the pc. i wonder if a format will free up some more space? anyone know?

Hi, Why don't you have a look at a bigger card, I got a Kingston 512
secure digital ( https://www.mymemory.co.uk/index.php ) which have
good reports on this site and this will also safe guard you for the future.
