Hi
I have a tomtom go 300 with 5.0 software which I wanted to upgrade to 5.1
I donwloaded the 5.1 zip and ran the exe setup. Now my tomtom wont load up even after I have reset it.
Was I meant to delete the contents of the tomtom before installing 5.1
cheers

No you should be able to run the setup as is.
Did you do a full backup of your original card? If so, format the card and copy the original back to the card.
Before you run the upgrade again, remove as many voices that you can to give you as much free space as possible on the card. Remove any extra POI that you have put on the card.
It is possible that lack of space on the card caused the problem.
After you've tried the setup then copy your POI back, but keep an eye on the free space. TT needs about 2MB as workspace. _________________ Richard

I did a full copy by copying and pasting all the files in the folder of tomtom on my machine drive H:
i have tried to format the card and the computer is seeing it as a standrad removable usb device,
i try to go into this device and it says it is not fomratted so i try to format and it says unable to format
all i wanted to do was upgrade to 5.1 |

If you have access to another bit of equipment that takes SD cards (digital camera, Palm/ ipaq etc), try formatting it in that. I ended up using my wife's palm Tungsten to do that when I got a corrupted card. _________________ TTGO 700 (dead)

Just a possibility..... My original SD card has a write protect switch that was so floppy, every time I pushed it into my card reader it slid to 'protect' and when I pulled it out to check, it slid back to normal.
Bit of sellotape did the trick. |

thanks for you advice guys,
i formatted the card in an hp digital camera put in back in and it saw the card as an hp crad, deleted all tyhe hp files of the card and copied the tomtom backup on ot it
it now decided to work,
however i only had something likw 896 kb left so though forget 5.1 for the time being until i get a bigger card but put the speed camera database back on the new version
man talk about hassle but this forum is invaluable |
