difference between gprs and wap

Although I have been using pc's fpr 15 years and I can sort out most problems with them and pda's I am confused when trying to get info on gprs/wap phones I lmow I need gprs to use TT traffic but when I ask in shops I get conflicting information. TT say talk to the phone people who then say I have to sort it out with TT ('')

Rolling Eyes Am i right in thinking

1 wap is older and more expensive system to use
2 if I get a gprs phone i can connect either wap or gprs
3 having a contract with a network is the same as having an ISP
4 if i have a gprs phone i only have to pay for data transfer not a fee to access webpages
5 i need BT voice and data if i want to usethe phone at the same time
6 I really need an idiots guide

Non tech

basically WAP is like moible dial up, you call a number and get charged per minute, slower and more expensive.

GPRS is a always on connection and you only get charged on what you download.

There is a lot more differences when you get technical but i check with your network provider to make sure GPRS is enabled on your SIM>
