Help please Whilst using my iPAQ 3870/Ins, it suddenly gave me the following error
Out of Memory (FlatNetw 1)
26312.94KB, ProgM: 17576.00KB
StrgM: 19445.39KB
Now the device will not route, it just keeps looping around with this error message, I have tried pressing the reset button and unloading and reloading the application, all to no avail.
I have also tried using the supplied card and also a 1GB drive, both give same errors.
Any advise
Yours lost in the wilderness

Goto the START | SETTINGS | MEMORY and see how much available memory (not storage space) you have (right hand side of slider).
You may be below 10mb wihch might be causing the problem. Equally the storage space for temp files may also be too small. This can be caused by having too many programs or synced data on the Pocket PC. |

Thanks for the quick response.
Checked the memory free and it shows 24.65MB Program (R/Side)
and 18.99MB Storage (L/Side) _________________ Cheers and Best wishes

In that case memory shouldn't be an issue, it could be that a file is corrupted. When you unloaded, did you uninstall, then soft reset, check to see if the directories were still created and delete any that were still there for CoPilot before re-installing ?
It could be that you have uninstalled it but there is a corrupted file that isn't getting overwritten.
TBH I really haven't used iNS, but I have used CoPilot which is essentially the same software (albeit newer). It might also be an idea to check out Team Warrior s website as they provide the UK support for iNS and might have a few more suggestions if nobody else here has any. |

Thanks again Dave.
I will try a complete de-install, ensure all directories deleted, another reset, then reload. If it fails ... duck.
On second thoughts I will try team warriors. _________________ Cheers and Best wishes

Have you tried to download the maps again to the CF card? I got a similar error message and this solved the problem.

Lozg? Did reloading the maps work? Another casue could be that the sleeve has not engaged properly and there is no signal which makes the programme hang. You will know that this has happened because the welcome page will not show initially. _________________ MarkP |

MarkP
I haven't been able to reload the maps yet, need to get back home to the main PC, this should happen tonight.
However I am certain that the sleeve is engaging correctly, as the iPAQ will show present postition and update, it just wont select a route.
Will update after tonights fun & games. _________________ Cheers and Best wishes

Hi,
Had exactly the same problem and it turned out that the route I was planning was to too big to be calculated.
Just a thought try and reduce your route. Instead of having many parts of a trip try calculating just the first part of the trip, if it still fails try a very short trip.
Mine failed when I tried to plan London to Bath to Telford to Bradford to Wolverhampton to London. Instead I did London to Bath to Telford and it worked fine.
Hope this helps.

All,
Thanks for the guidance, I can now say that I can find my way again, after reloading all the software it works as new.
What is interesting is that I took a copy the the card onto a 1GB drive and was using the copy for ages, all worked fine, then .... no routes, changed back to the original card and still no routes.
But now both are woking again.
Thanks again to all.....until next time ! _________________ Cheers and Best wishes
