Firsly I've searched the posts and can't see anything to help on this prob...

Installed the app and GB map to Card via hotsync after formatting as per instructions in the box. The map transfer caused hotsync to hang, at 99% CPU usage for at least an hour.

However, the Card showed 218 meg used, so the majority of the transfer had taken place.

Ran it out of interest and got the following message:

Fatal Alert
MemoryMgr.c,Line 3651
Freehandle

Reset

I reset and the same message.

So, I formatted the card again, copied the backed up TomTom 3 back on which runs fine, so no problem with the card.

Formatted again, and copied only the app, ran TomTom and got the same fatal exception error.

I've upgraded Palm desktop manager to 4.1.4.

Still no joy.

I have absolutely NO idea what to try next other than a call to TomTom tomorrow.

HELP - anyone - PLEASE?

Chrissy

Have you tried installing to a 'folder' on your Hardrive.. Once this is done, you can simply copy the files to your SD card using a card reader..

If you don't have a card reader, you can use "Card Export" on the Palm which makes the SD appear like a Hard Drive and you can drag-drop the folder to the card!

I didn't bother doing my upgrade via Hotsync as it was too slow to install the maps when I originally bought TomTom!

I hope this helps

Jon

Hi Jon

Thanks for your reply.

It seems that the original installation of TT3 had become corrupt when I first installed TT5.

So, I backed up and cleared my Palm completely, as well as the Card, put TT3 on again, then TT5 on the card.

:D One happy bunny here!

For the maps I've done as you suggested and installed them to laptop, then copied via card reader. Took less than a minute rather than hours with hotsync Smile

Also realised that the 7 digit postcodes are on the map disc and not part of the initial install, so that seems to be working perfectly too.

Once this summer storm has passed, I'll get in the car and try it out for real.

Hurrah!

If you install the maps from the installer using a card reader the post code file gets installed corrrectly and works. If you Hotsync it on the directory name needs to be changed to zip and then it will work.
