Hi could someone please tell me if tomtom 5 for palm and pocket pc are using the same software? With version 3 of tomtom you had to purchase palm as a stand alone package.

The software is different (because of the operating system) but you don't actually purchase the software - you purchase the maps. The CD will then have the installers for all platforms, but you can also load the program updates from the web.
