TT 5 & routing

Have TT5 working ok on Hx4700 but when making a route it always takes the long way round! I have it set to fastest route but even outside my own house it wants to take me round 3 sides of a square instead of the direct route, on routes I know it always chooses the long way round, once I take the best route it changes and agrees but of course when I don't know where I am I could be going miles out of my way!

Has anyone else noticed this? Any ideas for a work around?
