Hi

I belive that there is a GPS system for Ford cars. I looked on eBay and came across The 9000 VNR.

Only problem is, I can't seem to find it anywhere. I went to Ford and asked them but it was soooooooooooooo expensive. Anyone know of anywhere else this is sold.

I hope hoping for the CD's and GPS Antenna.

I live in the UK and have a Ford Focus 2001 model, so I hope it will fit.

Also, anyone know what it is like????

Thanks in advance.

There are 2 sat navs that will fit. The Focus sat nav is the Travelpilot 170

The other is used in a mondeo ,9000 VNR but will fit the focus. This is what I have.

Don't buy a Ford GPS antenna they cost £115.00, get a GPS antenna that fits a Clarion Sat Nav, £20.

Evo99, thanks for the reply.

Awesome pics.

I am planning on getting one tonight, but I read on a German Ford forum that I need the orignal AVC wire in order for the GPS tow rok correctly.

Can you confirm this.

As I thought it was just a case of buying the radio and the antenna and job done.

Any help would be great.

Please get back to me.

The AVC wire should already be on your connection plugs. Its the white/green wire circled. There is nothing else required apart from the NAVTECH cdrom and GPS antenna.

The AVC wire will only be there if you have the volume control stalk next to the steering wheel.

Evo99, you've been nothing but great help.

Thanks.

I got my VNR 9000, though Ford have it at the moment changing the facia, as the previous owner didn't care.

May I ask you one more thing.

As this has gone in my Focus, when I do an automatic scan on any radio station it won't find any, it just goes round in a loop. But if I do a manual search on the frequency it picks it up well, the RDS and name display of the radio station shows. I spoke to Ford and they feel I need a new aerial and maybe even a booster.

Did you have this problem.

Also, when is Navtech going to release it's 2005 edition.

Thanks again evo99 for your superb help. TOP MAN!!

1. I still use the original radio antenna so I doubt you would need a booster.

2. There is no mention of the infra red in the instruction manual.

3. Any ford dealer should be able to supply the instruction manual. These provide an excellent service

- That is the light sensor. It controls auto switching from day to night mode.

Hi people, I have a 2004 ford focus and the travelpilot 170.

I need information on how to sucessfully fit it. The radio itself works but the hand controls dont. (I think i need an adapter to get it working as it doesnt seem to fit). I also need to know how to wire up to the sensors to get the sat nav working. The unit itselfs locks on to the satelites, but doesnt detect forward/backward movent or speed.

I understand you need to connect to the rear abs speed sensors and the reverse switch, but have not got an idea on where to physically connect them (are the any wires already present behind my dash? do i need to run wires to the contol module etc)

I have noticed 2 wires behind the clock/trip computer, which has a plug on the end of it, any ideas what these are for, the colours are 1st wire red yellow, and 2nd wire black.
Any help will be much appreciated as it seems going to ford is like banging my head on a brick wall.
