Hi, I have a mitac mio with TomTom 5, which works fine. However, when I make use of the "Rotate Screen" feature and have the Mio on it's side, the GPS signal seems to drop intermitently for a second or two then come back again............

This doesn't seem to happen when it's in portrait mode with the receiver pointed up, or at least it seems like it doesnt happen....

Would there be a (technical) reason for this, or is it all in my mind?! ;)

the antenna is no longer seeing the sky - it's looking sideways. Of course this has an impact. It probably depends on your car as well - may be a bigger issue with tinted windscreen than without.

Do a test, use the Mio in portrait mode but with the antenna flush to the body. How does it react?
