TT5 initiating GPRS session on V3

Clean install of TT5. I know that my 2210 gprs connection to my V3 on O2 works perfectly as I use it for email and internet already. However, TT5 doesn't seem able to initiate the connection with the phone like explorer or mail can. I am about to try it after connecting to the phone first, but obviously this is not ideal. Any ideas?
