If "car aeriel" should mean the antenna that is used for the radio or maybe the mobile phone, then no. This s not possible, as the signals the GO listens for, is vastrly different from those for the radio or the phone. The GPS antenna is a highly specialized equipment and cannot be replaced by "a piece of wire".
If it was not what you have asked, then I didn'd get the idea and ayou may forget about the above.
Btw. it should read AERIAL if you want to avoid "antenna" |

No. Not like you describe it. If you own a supported mobile phone, then you may head for the "TomTom mobile" solution which you can read here: http://www.tomtom.com/products/product.php?ID=69
The maps are included with your packet on CD to load onto the phone.
If your mobile phone already contains A-GPS hardware, then probably your network provider (usually Hutchinson) might offer an "online navigation". Maps are not stored on the phone but read via UMTS. Much of the calculation works is done off the phone at the network server. Can be a quick way to orientate in a foreign city, as you usually have your phone with you.
