|
|
I have been informed by email that an update from v 5.0 to v 5.10 is available for the Tomtom Go range.
I have already read that someone has had locking up problems after installing this update.
Has anybody else had this problem or even installed with no problems.
Apparently there is an increase in route plotting of about 20%. |

I had no problems in going from 5.0 to 5.2 and it's in the speed of computing the route that seems to be 20-30% faster. It searches POI's quicker also. _________________ Richard

My excuse is that I was typing fast, but the Capital Offence is that I didn't check it before posting. '' _________________ Richard

I have updated my TTG 300 from v5.0 to v5.10, no problems, I have been out and tested it everthing works fine and it does appear that route planing is quiye a bit quicker. I drove around for about an hour everything is ok. Others have reported lockups but this appears to only affect TTG Clasic.
I have a friend who has one and he had to revert to v 5.0. So do back up your SD card before trying the update. |

The users who have had problems with the Classic seem mostly to have only 128Mb SD card. _________________ Richard

I have a classic and have had no problems (so far) with V5.10
It has been suggested (in another forum?) that lack of free space on the SD card could be an issue.
I have on original 128MB card:
UK Map (version which shipped with my Classic TTG)
Revenue (sorry, "safety") camera POI's
V5.10 software.
Some extra POI's (supermarkets, mc donalds, etc)
Cusomised startup screen file (not very big in filesize)
All that little lot comes to 107MB, whcih leaves me with 21MB (aprox) free.
I don't know if there is a recommended free space which should be allowed on the SD card - I should imagine and hope though, even if true, that it would be a lot less than 21MB
I'm assuming it would be for some kind of 'virtual' memory, swap space, paging space or whatever..??
Regards,
Ashley |

hi guys
i have TomTom Go classic, and im looking to update to v5.10, it has 4.40 on there already.
do you think it will be wise to update? i wont lose any info will i?
i have made a backup of my SD card (128mb)
so is it just a matter of downloading the update and installing?
would i need to install v5.0 first then v5.10? or can i just go straight to v5.10
cheers! |

The upgrade is good, and all your favourites are safe. If you have the spoken camera alerts you will need to download the new version for 5.1.

having read though the posts in this thread wonder if someone could help me . I have tried to update my tomtom 300 with the 5.10 update as advised i made a back up of my sd card , the backup i made already had the speed camera poi on (i didnt make a backup of original settings before adding speed cameras), i have a 128MB sd card when i tried to update my tomtom updated or i thought it had until i tried turning it on to which i found it had totally froze up . i had to format sd card and install backup to get it working again , my sd card is showing i have used space of 116mb free space of 2.42 and capacity 119mb is the reason it wouldn't update because i don't have enough memory left on my sd card or could it be the speed camera poi that i downloaded from this site.
any help please would be appreciated

I would take the camera files off first, or if you have them in the backup copy, just delete them.
Then install the V5.1 upgrade. Check that you have uninstalled all the unused voice direction files, and then copy back the speed camera files.
Note that if you are using the camera voice file from Pocket GPS you will need to download the new data.chk file for V5.10. _________________ Richard

http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/tomtom-go-poi-alerts.php
Here's the link for the new alerts, you need to rename the data.chk file on your SD card then name the downloaded file data.chk to get it to work
Make sure you download the one for V5.10 |
