just tested it...
TTN worked fine, if a little wobbly, but Checkpoint wouldn't pick up on the cameras or sound alarms
as there isn't an option to set the GPS settings in Checkpoint is there another progam I can use for the speed cameras (so I can have spoken warnings not those annoying beeps TT had the bright idea to include) ?
thanks _________________ SW

I'm pretty sure the map directory name has changed in TTN5. Unfortunately I can't remember it's name in TT3 (can anyone post it?) but if you were to put the POI's in the 'old' directory, then CheckPOI may work. Well it's worth a shot!

I think TT3 uses Great_Britain_Map and TT5 uses Great-Britain _________________ Garmin Edge 800 (cycling)

I don't think it will work because the tomtom gps driver probably works differently so checkpoint wouldn't be able to use it.
I'm not sure checkpoint is being developed anymore - one of the paid for applications may be.
heres hoping

The V3 SDK that CheckPOInt uses doesn't work with TT5. I've got a beta of the TT5 SDK and it is COMPLETELY different. There is a backwards compatibility library, which I've tried with CheckPOInt but I haven't yet managed to get it working.
If the developers of checkpoint do decide to update it, it will be a much larger change than just slotting in the new dll - the entire mechanism of the SDK has changed (and it's dropped support for embedded VB which is a shame for me). It does have a few nice new features though.
Even more irritating is the fact they have dropped the ability to send NMEA data to TomTom via code. My company (well, not MY company but you know what I mean) has an entire product built around that capability... I'm hoping to persuade TomTom to sell me V3 licences still... very annoying. |
