Hi there
I have taken delivery of the new Globalsat BT-338 and have given it a good run. Its brilliant. Its so good that all previous GPS receivers must now be obsolete. I have driven through many towns and gone through many urban canyons and all goes like a dream. But the best test was my day out in London. I walked with the GPS in my pocket and the receiver never wavered. Down narrow streets with tall buildings on either side and through tunnels, all went perfectly. Down Neal Street and Neal’s Yard my previous receiver would have been of no use at all. Yep, I think that this new bit of gear is great. |

I'm a serial upgrader but bad shopper so before I go for this I really need to be sure. Is it really that much better than my Fortuna clipon? can it really lock on sitting in my glove compartment? |

Well mine does.
Under a load of sweets and bits of paper and other bits and pieces as well.
In fact, there's only been the one occasion where I could'nt get the receiver to work. Then I remember I had to turn it on first !
I've not had GPS receiver before, and thus probably had high expectations and would have been disapointed with previous receivers if they were not as good as this. To be honest .. it performs as I expect it to perform .. ie .. it works! _________________ --

As promised, I am writing a review of the unit I won. I have been asked to add some pictures, so once they have been taken and a few editorial tweeks made, you will see a day to day users perespective of the BT-338. _________________ iPhone5, TomTom, Google maps, Navfree, Viewranger and Apple Maps (ekk) |

Bought a BT338 on eBay last week - what an awesome piece of kit!!! This is as good to use, in conjunction with a Dell X50V & Tom Tom 3, as my old iPaq 3870 / Navman 3000 was as bad.
TTFF is amazing - with the Navman 3000, I was due a shave by the time I got a sat lock, and it, or the ipaq kept crashing.
With the Dell / Globalsat, it is 1/2 minute tops from cold. This setup is what it's all about - bloody superb!! |

Just got my 338 (10 sats in the house) the thing is on my old receiver I could switch the PPC (IPAQ h4150) on then the receiver to have an incoming connection but it doesn’t work with this on the only way to connect is do it manually for an outgoing one what is a lot of hassle if your lazy like me so is their a way to connect automatically with an incoming one |

|

Hi All
I have a TomTom BT GPS receiver but it seems to have died - only 17 months old. Just a solid green light on !!
Tried all the normal discharging the battery but still only a green light when charged again.
Any way these reviews of the new BT338 sound very good, has any one had it working with a HP2210 IPAQ ?
Also where is the best place to get one? I see on Ebay that there is sellers offering it for £110 in the UK, and as low as £88 from overseas. and people like PDAmods for £160 !!
Any pointers would be great - Thanks

I've had a BT338 working just fine with a 2210.I bought mine on ebay from a UK supplier. Check "retailers to avoid "etc on this forum to make a choice about your supplier. |
