Hello all!

I brought an Emtac iPAQ GPS sleeve for my iPAQ H5550, about three months ago. I loaded Tom Tom 3 and all worked very well until a couple days ago. I had not used run Tom Tom 3 on my iPAQ for 2 or 3 weeks because I had not been out much due to illness. When I went to use it Tom Tom 3 run O.K. but the GPS did not seem to be scanning for satelites any more. There were no scrolling dots between the satelite icon and the PDA icon in the GPS applet.
I have tried a soft and a hard reset on the iPAQ and reinstalled Tom Tom 3 but the situation is still the same, no satelite scanning.

Could it be the Emtac jacket has failed?

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Hello OLDGIT,
I read your message tonight so i got myself registered to suggest a solution to the problem (ie. NO dotted signals)you are facing with your EMTAC GPS jacket for iPac 5550. NO WORRIES AT ALL, MATE!

Just insert the iPAC into the EMTAC GPS jacket and turn on the GPS only, its the display where u find the dotted signals. At the bottom left side of the pda screen there are will be three icons (in the boxes) Status / GPS / Log. Now Just tap the stylus on the GPS icon at the bottom left side of the screen and look as to which options are selected. MAKE SURE THESE ARE:
Emtac Wireless GPS (in the first drop down list) and
Transplant IGPSJ (in the second drop down list).

Now click on the top left box to finalise the selections,
then choose d*m's" and mph, out of the six options underneath the dropdown list. Press OK and you will be happy again with your EMTAC GPS.

As the last resort, u can reinstall the GPS driver software to support the above excercise. U should hear the PDA data initialising sound if u save the file on storage card when u turn on your PDA.
OK,
GOOD LUCK.
