All,
Having read these forums for the first time this morning, I would like to thank you for the information. I recently purchased an M5 and one of my needs is to log NMEA data for replay in my companies product (GPS Simulation). Garmin themselves told me this wasn't possible, they told me that before purchase! (typical sales guy).
Your help regarding this and the use of the GPSGate software, which I'm about to purchase a full licence was great, I eventually found the data on the PDA street website and it was indeed helpful as well.
So for those reading this, it's a great tool! I now am able to use the M5 fully and [now] would recommend it, in fact I'll be using it for customer demos.
This forum too looks to be useful and I hope I'll be able to contribute.
Thanks all
Andy |

I'd say that the lack of Bluetooth on the Mio is probably quite a big issue for many PDA users. Maybe now that Garmin have the M5 (with Bluetooth), Mitac will address this issue. Maybe they can be the first to have integrated GPS, Bluetooth, mobile phone AND WiFi! Now that really would be an all-in-one system! |

The only BT device I have is my mobile. Would I be able to use the M5 to get on the internet using this or am I missing the point of BT entirely?
Trying to compare the M5, Mio and a TT Go is not the easiest thing in the world.
Have read the performance of the Mio is not that fast aswell, wonder how it compares the the M5

I wonder if Garmin will ever sell their Que software as a standalone product, not tied to a Garmin BT GPS or M5 PPC? _________________ Gone fishing! |

That is exactly what you could do with a BT enabled PDA and BT equipped mobile. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Well, when I asked Garmin over two years ago if they were thinking of developing a PPC version of Mapsource, the answer was something like "No, not in the foreseeable future". As you are aware, the GPS V can only hold 19Mb of detailed maps which, when you're touring France, Spain and Portugal, isn't a lot! I was hoping just to be able to store maps on my PPC and transfer them to my GPS V as and when they were required. That hasn't happened, but at least I can now use my PPC with Que software so things are at least moving in the right direction. _________________ Tim |

A truely convergent solution - drool...
Going to delay upgrading my iPAQ 3970 with Navman sleeve to see if a convergent device comes out in the future.

I've read comments like this in other M5 reviews. I get the impression that the M5 is slower to notice you've missed a turn and re-calculate then the 3600 or the Quest, is that so?
