This is my first post so please treat me gently. I've searched the forums but can't seem to find a difinitive answer.

I've got an iPAQ 4150 with Navigon 4.2 and live in Northern Ireland. The maps in the north are ok with no house number information but most of the roads and places present.

But when I want to go down south into the Republic of Ireland the coverage is very poor with just the major roads and hardly any towns.

My problem is that I want to choose a desination on one of the roads that is shown and when I select it on the map, I get the 'no information' dialogue box.

Is there a way of manually inputting a desination on the map? The strange thing is that if I am down south and select my home location - the system works perfectly!!

Failing that does anyone know when the Irish maps will be updated to a useable level.

thanks

Ian

When you are in the view map mode, tap and hold the screen until the circle of dots complete and the menu pops up, there should be an option in there to add to route. You need to be able to route to that destination or you'll get an "out of map area" message.

Otherwise, if it's somewhere you go often, you could always save the destination when you get there.

That is the problem - when I tap and hold the screen (over a road junction or similar), I get the circle of dots but I always get the dialogue box saying 'No Address Found' - no other options appear.

It must be possible to manually identify a destination - surely?

thanks for your help

I'd love to know the answer to this one too, I have exactly the same problem, and this thread on this site is all google turned up. Put the pointer over any part of Dublin, and "no address found", despite the map of Dublin being quite good. It's bizarre.

Just a quick update - I've upgraded to MobileNavigator 5.1 and it is much better for Ireland. In the north it looks like all the mapping is covered to street level, while in the ROI all the Motorways, N Roads, R Roads and a lot of the tertiary roads are shown along with names of towns and villages.

Navigon inform me through their helpdesk (which has been pretty good at returning emails quickly) that the ROI is 39% complete. Maybe so, but it is a huge improvement on 4.2 and could actually help you get around Ireland.

My only gripe is that I ordered the upgrade on 30 November had to pay for shipping and the next day Navigon sent me an email saying the Christmas special was for free shipping in December!! - D'Oh!!

I emailed them to try and get free shipping but they wouldn't wear it - not even any consolation stuff!! Crying or Very sad

But on the bright side at least my system is far more useable than it was before here in Ireland!

cheers

Ian

Hi Ian

Where are you sending your emails to? I can't seem to get any response from any of my emails.

Thanks for the link.

That's the one I used and no reply for three weeks.

I'll try again.
