Hi Mark,
Strangely, I find I still get the speed camera voice alerts even with the Auto Alert 1 box UNticked, and then Destinator starts up reasonably quickly. You don't get the icons on the screen, but then I gather from another thread that you don't get the icons when moving anyway, because of a screen updating bug. If you want to see the icons when stationary, then tick the box and wait about half a minute.
In my case I HAVE got the Redlight (auto Alert 2) box ticked (maybe that's why it works) for testing and because that file is much smaller so doesn't slow the startup too much.
The best way to change the sound files is to edit the destinatormaneuvers.inf file (using Notepad or similar). Look for the lines like :
The "141" file is the alert and "1" is "one", etc.. I've changed my commands to the form:
::MW,POI_ALERT_1*DISTANCE_TYPE_100,0,0,alertspd;1;hundred;UNITS,"Speed Camera 100 yds"
where "alertspd" and "hundred" are files that I've edited from the original destinator files (but you could create your own, or "borrow" some). However, the text on screen still says "Auto Alert 1"; has anyone found a fix yet?.
There's more information in this thread:
Alleycat, with the auto alerts on mine ticked I see the icons when moving.
Favourites and auto alerts show fine when selected.
I find the whole favourites/poi stuff really confusing as I can only see poi icons if i choose show when listing them. So it works for favourites but not the POI data. If this screen refresh bug is so bad then how come there is no issue showing the auto alerts/favourites?
