I noticed that some of my area in the North West is not covered very well so I have started to record the cams I see. I am using an Ipaq 3970 with Tomtom2 and Checkpoint running in the background. I had configured Tomtom2 to record the poi's rather than Checkpoint as I thought it would be easier to manipulate the recorded points. However I have found TT2 records as Deg Min Sec only which will give a resolution of around 30 meters. Checkpoint seems to record in decimal degrees to 5 decimal places which is less than a meter. Trouble is you don't get much confirmation that the point has been recorded, you have to convert the result to a more meaningful format and there is no tag on the POI to show what and when. I was hoping to configure the button to record in both TT2 and Checkpoint at the same time but can't seem to do this. It's seems to be either one or the other. Are there any other preferred methods of recording points.

Is GPS Assist or POIWarner any better than Checkpoint at recording and managing POI's?

Another thing I noticed with Checkpoint when used with TT2 is that POI's are only monitored and POI recording only works in navigate mode. I sometimes leave TT2 in map mode and monitor progress on the map as I don't always have a route planned. Is this the same with POIWarner and GPSAssist or do they also work in map mode.

I will send in these cams I have recorded in the Preston Manchester area. But the resolution is 30 meters approx. Hope that is adequate.

Bob
