use tomtom nav 3 with a Rikaline 6030 bluetooth receiver on a IPAQ 1940 in a motorhome. I find that the receiver is very slow to start and drops signal. I am told that it may be due to the body overhang over the cab that is blocking out the signals. Does anyone have any experience of this and I would appreciate any help.

Hi

if you start moving before the receiver has a fix it can take quite a while to aquire one whilst moving. i have my receiver permanantley powered so it always has a fix and i never have to wait.

The overhang could give you problems depending on what material it is made of. the satelite signal will travel through glass an Plastic and GRP but not through metal.

i hope this helps you.

Regards

Hi

I use the following equipment only in my motorhome which is of fibreglass construction. The bluetooth GPS GR230 sits on a bracket that fits in the top rooflight, and works very well. It is also left switched on for a few minutes before travelling.

Hope this is of use.

Alan
