Looking at upgrading my Garmin Streetpilot, and i am in two minds of what to get, so any advise would be the best buy.
Basically i am a rep in the uk so need a fairly good updated map, good signal, ease of use and i will also be looking at the speed camara database subscription from this site.
Now looking at the tom tom one it has the best signal from what i have read, but seems to be a pain when connecting it up when putting it in the cradle.
Costs, looking at the one i can pick it up for around £249 + £30 acces kit (charger and bag, plus i would need another sd card for around £50 and camera database £20
Total cost £349.00
Tom Tom 700 top of the range unit dont need many of the extra features at the moment ie bluetooth hands free and euro street maps, but they could be usefull in the future (maybe)
Total cost for that unit is £379 inc £55 camara database voucher from speedsafe.
Now for the extra £30 is it worth going for the 700 or is it better to stick with the one, what would you guys recommend. |

I would suggest that you wait a couple of weeks if you can. There is likely to be newer versions of the range announced at the CeBit exhibition on 9th March.
If you go for the ONE. A bigger card can be had for a lot less that £50, unless you really need a huge card to add maps. A 256MB card will be enough with just the GB map on it and some PoIs and cameras and things.
Also a 5v mains charger and a camera bag from the likes of Jessops is also cheaper than TomTom. And it doesn't tell a thief that you have a Tomtom in it! _________________ TTGO 700 (dead)

Remember that although the units will likely be announced in March they are not likely to be available for at least a couple of months later.
As for the 700, it has the full maps of Europe, a proper docking kit and handfree phone capability. You have to consider if you think this is important. |

So, he steals it anyway assuming it's a digital camera?
Do you really leave stuff lying around in your car for thieves to view anyway? |

I'm using the 700 right now and I really like it. It's the only one I have personally used, so I can only speak to it, but it has been very helpful so far. |
