8O I am an articulated truck driver based in Birmingham, England, & I purchased a Garmin ique 3600 in December 2003, which came supplied with Mapsource 5.2 City Select. I was happy with the product, but I was becoming frustrated with the bug or error in the software regarding roundabout exits.

To clarify error -: The software tells you to turn left into a roundabout, then left again to exit. Instead of " take the second or third exit".

I phoned Garmin & I was told that-: "we are aware of the error in the software & I would be entitled to a free upgrade". I received the upgrade, but, the errors in Mapsource 6.0 City Select are far worse than in 5.2 & I have had to stop using it on the road as I deemed it frustrating & dangerous. I will make clear my reasons below.

Mapsource 6.0 City Select bug list. (MCS6)

1. MCS6 calculates roundabouts correctly when you view the directions in "Que Turns" but when you get to the first roundabout & enter it the application screen flashes intermittently & repeats " Enter roundabout" for the rest of the journey.
2. Route calculation frequently contains U-turns for no apparent reason. (Try turning a 44-ton artic around in the middle of a non-classified road just for the hell of it!)
3. MCS6 frequently gives a "route calculation error " when calculating routes and refuses to calculate.
4. Garmin ique 3600 crashes regularly & can only be restored by a reset.
5. All of the above can be rectified by simply swapping to the SD card containing 5.2 mapsource
6. Que Turns does not use road classification numbers in its directions e.g. "turn left into B452 Smith St " or "A38 Kingsbury road". Road classification labeling on the map is also very poor & in most cases non-existent

I would not be annoyed if I had not had to shell out £90 for a 512 MB SD card to accommodate this "upgrade". I would be interested to hear from anyone on how these problems can be rectified

Yours Truly

I had one of the first iQue units in the UK.
Have you installed all [many] updates from Garmin.
The roundabout problem was cured by v6 and now has been replaced by v7.
I have used my iQue all over Europe towing a caravan [preferences set to Truck] and never experienced your other problems.

Perhaps the many choices under preferences are incorrect.
Have you ever 'hard reset'.
Changing between v6 and v5 could cause problems.
We could go through your settings!!

Smile thanks for replying strumble

<Have you installed all [many] updates from Garmin.>

Do you mean operating system or Map Data?
Apart from the map data, do you have to install anything else?

<Perhaps the many choices under preferences are incorrect.>
I use truck or delivery

<Have you ever 'hard reset'>.
Yes

<Changing between v6 and v5 could cause problems.>

If youve got it working ok, I must be doing something wrong!

<We could go through your settings!!>

OK! I'll re-install every thing, I'll post up the procedure as soon as I get a chance

:D I've got it working OK! The IQue is now operating at its full potential!

Reported bugs 1-5 inclusive have now been eliminated and were due to a mixture of incorrect map & OS installation. (both sets of map data were installed on the same card & it seems they were incompatible)

I have downloaded the rest of the upgrades off the garmin website & I have have installed them.

Thanks strumble your help was invaluable!
