QUESTION ABOUT MAP60CS

I am looking to upgrade from my Garmin eTrex legend and was considdering either the GARMIN GPSMAP6OCS or the MAGELLAN MERIDIAN PLATINUM the color screen is not a big selling point to me it seems the 60cs has more features than the map 60 what i was looking for are some oppinions on the map60cs compared to the Meridian PROS and CONS and any other input on the Garmin unit

Hey HellHound

One of the reasons I chose the 60C instead of the 60CS was the fact that the special compass feature (I think the only extra feature that the 60CS has) on the 60CS is a battery hog. I can get a little over the 30 hours (spec) of use out of my 60C using 2500 mAH AA's. I believe the CS's compass feature chews that down to under 15. Of course, maybe you don't use the compass continually, maybe just when you need it, I don't know. But I never need it (because it's not there), and I always get the max bat life. Tip: don't use the back light. Use an LED headlamp. They last for night after night of continuous use. Besides, you can afford to run out of headlamp; you can't afford to run out of nav.
