xda2i and bt318 .failing to link

I have just bought a bluetooth globalsat bt318 and am trying to link it with my xda2i. The bluetooth manager on the xda2i connects to the gps for outgoing but not incoming,the bt318 flashes green and fat blue indicating tha it has a gps fix and bluetooth connection but when i use the gpsinfo programme which came with the gps no gps info can be found.The com port is set to 1 [i've tried them all ]and the baud rate is said by globalsat to be set to 34800 [I dont actually know what that means but did as suggested ].No success unfortunately.Any ideas?

if its a new gps then charge it up then turn it on and leave it for around 20 mins or so the try getting a fix
