I have a Tom Tom BT gps receiver and i am trying to run destinator 3 software but it won't work.

Through the destinator software i slect gps settings but when i search i get the salt shaker and nothing happens.

My outbound com port is com 5 and i've tried different baud rates and still wont find the gps.

I kept on getting lock ups with tom tom so i thought i'd try my Dad's destinator instead.

Not much luck with this sat nav lark.

I am using a XDA II

If TomTom is still installed then it locks the BT Com Port for its own exclusive use.

To resolve uninstall 'TomTom~GPS' in 'Remove Programs'. This won't affect TomTom but will allow other apps to see the BT Com Port.

What ROM Version are you running on the XDAII? 1.72 is the latest which fixes numerous BT Issues.

Hi Darren,

I have just bought an XDA II from a friend, I know the ROM version is not the latest V1.72.

Where can I download the latest file?

Thanks,

Iain

The latest update including the v1.72 Rom can be found at O2's XDA Microsite:

Thanks Darren,

I'll download today!

Sorry to be a continued pain, but I'm about to purchase Destinator 3.0.75 for my XDA II and am looking for a compatable BT GPS Receiver. Can you recommend one?

Would the Globalsat BT338 or Royaltek Blue GPS Mini RBT-1000 fit the bill?

Thanks again.

Firstly where are you located, which country?

Secondly may I ask why you have decided to go with Destinator?

Re. the BT GPS, the Globalat BT338 is a superb receiver, that would eb my choice.

Hi Darren,

Sorry, I should have given you all the details to allow you to advise me correctly.

I currently live in the UK but am about to emigrare to Perth Australia.

After a fair bit of research on this and Ozi GPS websites I concluded that Destinator, Copilot or Navman SmartST were systems that had good map support in Australia.

Thanks in anticipation of your continued help.
