Apologies if this has been asked before, but having just got a WM6 device and loaded TT6 Navigator, I just found these excellent voice warnings.

The only problem is they all seem to be cut short just before the speed is annoucned; i.e. "Warning Gatso ahead sp.....". The ogg files sound fine outside of TT6, so it is the application that is cutting down the output.

Is there a fix for this?

cheers,
Adam.

Not much help to you I'll admit, but it must be something specific to your set-up as there would have been a lot more complaints by now if it was a general problem.
something to do with the amount of free memory, perhaps?

I sent some modified sounds by email, but they seemed to just drop into a black hole. No confirmation email.. Sad

Also emailed some questions, must have been a couple of months ago...

Is it better to post on the forum instead?

Questions and support queries should be posted in the forums, that's what they are here for after all Smile

With regards to the modified sounds you sent, to which email address did you send them as I don't recall anything being received?

It's not an issue I've heard reported before and I've never experienced that issue, what hardware are you using?

It a good point, so the question really is what is healthy amount of memory to run on HTC Hermes?

TomTom don't officially support their product on a WM6 platform, this OS is quite new, and as yet there are very few devices running it - either as supplied new, or flashed with an official ROM from the OEM supplier of the hardware.
Is the ROM you have on your Hermes an official HTC ROM or one you have installed from somewhere else per chance? - Mike

No secret there - its the Official rom which HTC released earlier last month. Not a Vodafone ROM I admit, but much better Wink

So just a small update to say that I tried the SD card on another WM5 Hermes and got the same results. The odd thing is the redlight camera warnings are fine. It is almost as if it truncating the warning at the same point the claxon sound finished. Is it possible it might be cashing some old setting determines the length of the sound ?

I'll try a complete re-install of Tomtom from the DVD next and see if that works??

If you mean for the Cameras, have a look at #5 on the FAQs Page.

They work on all TT all-in-one Units.

You should have a read of This Page which details how to use ogg audio files for the warning sounds, it also contains links to the ogg download page on the site where you can obtain correctly named audio file sets for the Speed Camera Database, the data.chk file method is no longer supported so it will not work on the 720, the ogg file method works very well though.

Have a read through the instructions and if you encounter a problem please ask again as I am sure someone will be able to help out, quite a few of us are using the ogg files on various TomTom products these days - Mike

Hi

Ok forgive me if posting in wrong forum:

But can anyone advise on the legal position, of copying sound files from one satnav system, then using them on another satnav.

For example, I would like to copy some very good camera warning messages from my old sat nav in WAV format, and convert them to OGG format and use them on my new TOMTOM 720.

If I do that am I likely to be beaking any laws?

Thanks in advance for help

Mick

As long as the files were either paid for or available as a free download I doubt you would be doing anything wrong by converting the file type to a different one in order to use them on another manufactures unit. Make sure the sample rate is 22050Hz for the ogg file so it works with the TomTom device - Mike
