TomTom 4 or PDA

I would love a GPS system but am unable to decide if a PDA based soloution would be better than something like totom 4.

Any recomendations on the merits of either. Cost ? Accuracy? Easy of use?

What is all needed for a PDA soloution (I don't have a PDA at the moment)

Where are you based? If you could update your profile to indicate which country you’re in that would help us to suggest some options.

Do you drive, walk/hike, fly, sail, etc? Depending on your answer you might want just a single unit like a PND (Personal Navigation Device, e.g. TomTom Go) or you may need several applications like street navigation and topographic so a PDA may be more suited to your needs.

Do you travel to many different countries, or do you stay in the same country all of the time?

How much do you want to spend?

Do you want something that’s simple to use and just plug ‘n’ play, or do you want loads of options to configure?

Sorry for the lack of detail

It would be for driving mainly (a little walking ). Don't do much foreign travel and the £400ish for Tomtom go would be a maximum ( although cheaper would be better - obviously)

If you have a PDA running tt3, you can update tomtom s/w from 3 to 4 although i have never tried it

As for me, I just spend £40 on a bluetooth GPS receiver on eBay, £18 on a cradle systems from a company called RAM to fit my HP5550, and I'm trying out a couple of software bundles from friends to help decide which one is for me.
It gives me a chance to try before I buy and it's a damn sight cheaper than a boxed setup.

I've never tried an all in one solution, but I beleive that tomtom go 5 (all in one) is very similar to tomtom navigator 5 (runs on a pda). Seeing as you can get a PDA with gps and software for around the same price as an all in one, I'd go for the PDA option as it gives you more flexibility (you can put other gps software on) and more functions (it's a pda as well). For this reason, I bought an orange M2000 so I've got gps, pda and phone all in one.

I would also definitely go for the PDA solution, much more flexible and cheaper.
I recently bought the Mio 168 PDA with built in GPS receiver and car kit for £208 all in, TTN5 software costs about another £70 or you could download from the Internet an evaluation copy and try before you buy.
You can pick up a 512MB high speed (x66) SD card from Ebuyer for about £25 all in for the extra storage capacity.
I run TomTom Navigator 5 on it and it is absolutely brilliant.
The good thing with the PDA is you can run any of the available navigation software on it, and with the speed camera and POI info loaded into it, is invaluable.

Only thing I would say is the PDA takes a little bit more setting up, but once thats done you're off.
