Been using TTN3 for about a week now and more than happy with it. However there is one rather irritating problem.

The software doesn't seem to be able to 'see' a 100 yard section of the westbound A69 between Newcastle and Corbridge. If a route or intinerary would use the A69 or if you just 'Navigate To' a point that would mean using the A69, TT diverts you off the main road for a half mile detour before bringing you back on further up. I tracked it down to this 100 yard stretch and if I place a POI on this piece of road TT can't navigate to it, either directly or as a 'drive by' in an itinerary. It's as though the software just doesn't believe the road is there. Eastbound on the dual carriageway at the same spot is fine.

Whilst this is just a minor irritation as I obviously know my local roads, it does make me worry that there may be other stretches of 'unnavigable' roads dotted around the country which could really screw me up in areas I don't know so well.

Anyone else come across this?

Cheers,

Marky

PS I have uninstalled and reinstalled the maps (the whole of TTN actually!) just in case it was an installation problem but the problem is still there.

Hi there
Have just replicated this error, so you're not going mad! All you can do is report mapping errors like this back to TomTom or direct to TeleAtlas, via their web sites.

Thanks Barry.

At least I know now that it's not me or my installation. I was about to try a second re-install but I'll not bother now. We just have to live with it I suppose but it seems a bit of a grave error.

This might explain why the unit likes to send me up onto the military road so often.

I also remember a friend having this pronblem on a different GPS unit (Garmin iQue?), so it might well not be just TomTom that does this!

Yeah I thought it was because of my speed settings at first.

Definitely sounds like the TeleAtlas maps. I've sent an error message to TomTom and got the standard reply but seeing as they're unlikely to update the maps it seems like it's a bit of a lost cause.

This error was also in Navman SmartST V2 but has been corrected in V3. Perhaps you can ask someone with a GO to investigate, as they have later maps than TTN3.

I too have noticed this as well. Never normally use the sat nav to get me to Newcastle Airport from Brampton, but needed to get to Brough Park dog track, afew weeks ago, and on the return journey, the sat nav wanted to take me off the A69, just after the climb up the hill under the bridge, one two turn offs before the Corbridge roundabout. Could not understand why it wanted to do this, and tried to get me to come off at the next turning as well. Then at the roundabout, it wanted to send me into Corbridge. After this, it recalculated the route, and everything was fine again.

Hi guys

Living just north of Gretna I know exactly where you are all talking about. I can also happily report that the bit of road TT is looking for resides quite happily on the A30 just east of Stockbridge.

When we go to my Mum's in Salisbury there is a huge hairpin at a junction which is simply not there. You would have to drive through the fields to do it.

That must be where TT thinks the lost A69 is now..........

Now they are both on or close to Roman roads, is there a lost legion on there somewhere?
Question Question
:D
