I have just got an icn510 for my mother the first day she went from devon to bristol and then plymouth she phoned me to say it was great but it was about 30 miles behind them and when they stopped it went on ahead of them. It seems it comes out of the box in Simulation mode and the instuction to turn this off is near the back of the book.
as she does a lot of miles she would like the poi for gatso.
i had a bit of trouble converting the file but after reading some replies to similar problems i found it was ecel that is the problem and notepad cured that all seemed well it started to download and then stopped and said i did not have enough memory. So i thought i would delete ireland and scotland to free some memory on the sd card this seemed to only free up 1K which is odd as the folder said it was around 13Mb. i still have the same problem!
Do i need a larger sd card than the one supplied?
can i give her scotland back with a new card?
will a new card allow us to put on the poi file?
i also see there are other poi files how many can you put on the icn510 as i seem to rember reading a limit of 25 if so is that 25 files or 25 camera positions or or am i confused? |

Last part first, the limit is 25 files at any one time
First part. the SD card supplied becomes full if you add Ireland AND the European basemap files, You would need 256 MB SD card to ad all plus odd and sods files.
I use 1 GB as I have the EU loaded |

I had the same problem when I first got my Navman. It seems that removing the map files with the desktop software doesn't actually remove the files from the card - at least not the first time you do it. Perhaps they have protected them in some way.
Anyway, I had to look at the SD card through Windows Explorer and delete the files that way. Then when I went back into the desktop program the correct amount of free space was showing. I could then get the POI files downloaded.
Hope this helps.

You can correct the problem reported updating your iCN510 to Service Pack 1.
If your iCN has not been updated it will show under About the following information:
ICN510 Version: v3.00.0027,
English: v3.01.00003
Built on: 2004-09-02 12:44:12(B),
Core: T-core-v1_16_0029 2004/09/02-12:44:16.
In some instances the update using
Un updated iCN to Service Pack 1 shows:
iCN510 Version: v3.01.1008,
English: v3.0.1000,
Built on: 2004-11-22 12:38:48(B),
Core: T-core-v1_16_0039 2004/11/05-14:41:16.
You can download Sp1 here:
http://www.navmansupport.com/smartst_pro/SmartST_Pro/NavmanUpdates.html.
My iCN after installed SP1 deleted correctly the map files from the SD card using the Desktop software and in addition reports the change in the memory available.
Hopes this helps. |
