Hi Just a quick question about SD Memory.
I run TomTom on a HP PDA and would like to put safety camera data on the SD card, but Tomtom is pre loaded on a 128 chip and there would not appear to be room on the memory chip! and or I am concerned about loading third party info onto the Tomtom chip.
So I propose to purchase a larger SD memory card, the qusetions I need answers to are two fold :
(1) Can I copy the TomTom software from the cd's provided by Tomtom to a new memory card ?
(2) What type of SD card do I need, I notice there are SD memory cards with 7 pins and others with 9 pins and standard speed cards and 60x speed cards, which is the correct SD Memory card Please?
Thanks

If you've got a TomTom product pre-loaded onto a SD card, that means you have the HP bundle, which isn't TomTom Navigator 3.
This limits you to whatever POI alerting facilities are built in, as unless things have changed, add-on software built using the Navigator SDK, such as CheckPOInt, doesn't work with the HP bundle. I don't believe there's any problem using POI files with this bundle, though.
SD cards - I don't believe there's a problem reinstalling onto another SD card, though I've no direct experience of this package. I suggest you avoid Sandisk brand cards, and ideally go for something sold as 'High Speed'.
You could do worse than get in touch with ValueFlash and see what they have. If you're totally confused, email them at support@valueflash.co.uk with details of what you're wanting the card for (an iPAQ running TomTom navigation software) and they should be able to put you straight.

I discovered a similar problem on the TT GO -- not enough memory on the supplied 128 MB SD card to fit the speed camera database. However, if you delete the voice files for the languages you're not likely to use (I can only speak English :D) then there should be plenty of room. |

I got a Viking 512 SD. Loading tomtom on was a breeze, adding speedcam files as easy as, and i've now got a few movies and mp3's on too there is LOADS of space left.
