Was glad to find a site that was not full to techie geeks! 8O Somewhere I could get a few ideas and advice. In the end I settled for TomTomGo, for a number of reasons. 1. It worked right out of the box. 2. No complicated setup. 3. Used it a few times in the local area just to test it out and get "confident" with it.
However it did let me down once and left me on the wrong side of a railway line, looking at my destination across the tracks! Will be giving the whole thing a good workout on Monday when it will be used to navigate me to Sunbury from Weston-super-Mare, via Swindon and Basingstoke. If that works without a hitch SOLD... :D
I do have an o2XDA, (Not XDAII) and wanted to use that. It seems that it all became a bit complicated with regards to in car mounts, wiring, software and aerials etc

Good to hear that you like the GO.

With the XDA you would at least need some kind of GPS receiver (it's built in in the GO). The other accessories (car cradle, power adapter) are optional.

The advantage of the XDA is that if you get bored with the TomTom software or with the map errors - as you experienced - you can try something else - other software, other maps. With the GO you're stuck, you either like it or not...
