This is a specific question answered on the NAVMAN website FAQ.
Q.) Can version 2 maps be used with version 3 software?
A.) Yes version 2 maps can be used with version 3 software, however version 3 map sets cannot be used with version 2 software.
If you want to take a look to the FAQ, here is the link to the NAVMAN USA website:

So, finally that's the answer I was looking for!
Q.) Can version 2 maps be used with version 3 software?
A.) Yes version 2 maps can be used with version 3 software, however version 3 map sets cannot be used with version 2 software.
Now, I can try to download the v2 maps into a memorycard and see what happens.
I couldn't succeed in doing it with the SmartST Desktop software.
Any idea how to do the installation of maps with that program, without internet connection to Navman as required?
Thanks to all.
that's a really helpful forum with a lot of people very expert
Best regards,

are version 2 maps that much superior the v3? I am new to the GPS world and having one heck of a time figuring out how to properly configure addresses. If i understand correctly the v2 maps were navteq and the new v3 are teleatlas? |

No, that's not right. V1 used Navteq, both V2 and V3 use TeleAtlas. When you say you're having trouble configuring addresses, in what context do you mean? _________________ Tim |

Maybe finding an address would have been a more proper way for me to have phrased my statement.
The address 849 S. Hillside Wichita Kansas 67211. This is an old pharmacy building that has been here for 50-60 years. I type in this sequence State Kansas, then Zip Code 67211 and it comes up with 67211, Wichita, Sedgwick County which is correct. Then it again asks for city/town (skipping this step can help or hurt, but I can not figure the reasoning so far) when it already has located Wichita in the ZIP code area. Following that I then enter the street address which it calls House No. (Could this be where I am going wrong, since this is not a residential address, does it differentiate between residential and commercial somehow?) As I enter the first digit of the street address I can see it shows 800 - 802 S. Hillside St. the second line lists 804 - 898 S. Hillside St. However if I type in 84 or 849 it comes up with nothing. This is where it goes weird. The next time I enter the address I GET NO MATCHES??? NOTHING NADA I did get it to find 849 one time, and I do not remember exactly how that was done, regarding EXACTLY in what order I had entered all address info . Entering the zip code seems to help somewhat (but not always) rarely in my travels will I have access to postal codes on a regular basis. There just seems to be no rhyme or reason for the 510's ability or non ability to locate a correct address for me. Daily I use usps, fedex and endicia software to mail packages, so I am no stranger to deciphering an address. The PO reads an address from the bottom up and I believe the ICN's software works in a similar way? Any suggestions on how to tame this little beast would be greatly appreciated.
I should say on the 510's behalf that once it has found the address the guidance is AWESOME I absolutely love it. The speaker could be just a little better, but if i turn down the radio i can here it ok (this is in a one ton dually diesel pickup truck) which in itself makes MUCH noise. |
